Are you a Tigger or an Eeyore?

I'm sitting here watching the tribute to Randy Pausch on 20/20. It's heartbreaking. His life was cut too short, and I mourn for his wife and his children.

One of the most thought-provoking questions he asked in his lecture is: Are you a Tigger, or an Eeyore?

I don't think I'm always just one... Depending on a lot of factors, I can be a Tigger about certain things and an Eeyore on others.

...I suppose his asking this question is a good thing so that we can be more aware of our own outlook on things.

True, Chief, I think we can't be upbeat ALL the time, but striving to get back to that "happy place" in the face of adversity is a good goal.

Pausch had a wonderful way to embracing life. It's a pity his was cut so short.

Lisa,

Here's an interesting tidbit:

If you read The Last Lecture by Pausch, you know that he was a big "Trekkie." The new Star Trek film was being directed by JJ Abrams this year (which I'm pretty excited about), and JJ called Pausch and asked him if he would like to come to LA to film a cameo role in the new film! He did and from what I understand, it's a speaking role!

We will hear from Randy one more time in an epic that I love so much because Gene Roddenberry's creation was so right on... In a way, Randy lived and looked at his life just like the lessons taught in the original Star Trek.

He may not have lived long... but I think Randy Pausch definitely did prosper!
